Why is Petzit different from other communities?
Everything you do on Petzit helps pet owners as well as shelters/rescue groups:

- Unlike other sites where all you read is pet owners complimenting another dog's cuteness level, Petziters share their pet knowledge to help other become better pet owners. Petzit is the only site where one can rate an review the entire pet industry, ask questions to other pet lovers, write journals about anything pet related.

- Unlike other sites, Petzit has a system where user's helpful content (reviews, journals, answers, etc) generate points which enable shelters and rescue groups to earn funds. How?

- What's in it for a user that doesn't care about shelters and rescues? Well, besides the useful information provided by other pet lovers, Petziters gain status by being active on the site. Status provides users with more free pet stuff as well as special discounts from national retailers (coming soon).

Why should I use Petzit?

Pet lovers like you are able to participate in our Petzit House Shelter Makeover Contest. In addition, by sharing your thoughts on products and services for animals with other pet lovers, you can help pet owners make educated decisions for the animals they love.

Yes. There are no charges associated with being a registered member of the Petzit.com Web site.

Is Petzit in my hometown?
Yes. Petzit lets you search for services in your local area. Go to the Pet Services page to start searching for local services. You can also find other pet owners in your area by visiting the Pet People section of the site.

How Can I opt out of Pet War
Petzit gives you the option to opt out of Pet War. From MyPetzit,
you can click on MyPetzit. Click on the pet you'd like opted
out of Pet Wars. Select the Pet War tab. Click on "Opt Out of
Pet War." When you opt out pet wars, your pet's score will be reset to zero.

How do I enroll my pet(s) in Pet War?
When you register and validate your account with Petzit, each pet you add to your MyPetzit will be automatically entered into Pet Wars. The photos in pet wars are your pet profile photos. When a photo is changed, the pet's score is reset to zero; since it is a new pet photo.

What is the maximum size an image upload can be?
Photos cannot be larger than 4mb.

How do I find a product?
From the Petzit homepage click on the Pet Products tab in the menu bar. You will have several search options under Find Products. Use this to refine your search then click Go. You may also search for products using the search bar. Simply type in the product name you are searching.

How do I write a great review?
Good reviews are concise and to the point, and honest. Try to focus on the qualities of the product or service you respond most strongly to. Good reviews have titles that are descriptive of the reviews perspective, such as "An affordable, if not very fun, dog toy." Writing only "great product," or "nice place" however, does not help others make an educated decision on that product or service.

How do I exempt my pet from Pet Wars?
At this time, all pets are automatically entered. We plan to have an opt out of pet wars option.

Is there a limit on how many pictures and/or videos I can upload?
As you click around Petzit.com you may see links to upload images to your profile, of pets, of products and services you have used, among others. When you select an upload link, a box will open up on top of your Web browser that will allow you to select a file from your computer and add it to Petzit.com. You are allowed to upload as many pictures of your pets as you like. You are allowed to upload one picture per product. You are allowed no more than 10 photos for shelters.

Where should I go to report inappropriate behavior?
At Petzit, we respect all of our users and the community they are creating. However, if you feel that certain content is inappropriate, you may flag a review, comment, or picture/video review. Provide a reason for the flag in the comment section. Petzit Quality Assurance will then investigate the content, and if necessary, remove it.
While we appreciate good faith reports, if it seems that a member flags or reports others as a way to gain an advantage of the system, then that member will lose credibility over time.

Am I obligated to review a sample once I receive it?
There is no obligation to review a sample. However, your review will greatly help other pet lovers in making a product decision.

What is Pet Answers?
Pet Answers is a community bulletin where Petzit community members can ask questions and get advice and answers from other Petziters.Go to the Homepage or My Petzit and click on Answers. From there you can ask a question. Your questions will remain up for two weeks. After two weeks, we'll ask you to pick the one that best answers your question, helping others who may have similar questions in future. You may also post answers to questions or search other people’s questions through the Categories drop down menu

What if the product I am looking for isn't on Petzit?
If there is a product you can't find on Petzit that you would like to see here and review, click on Add a Product. Your suggestion will be submitted to us for approval.

What is the maximum file size of a video to upload?
Video files cannot be larger than 100mb.

How do I upload photos and videos to the site?
On Pet-home you can add photos of your pets and you can add photo reviews of services and products showing your pet enjoying the product or service. To add a photo of your pet, go to your Pet-home to add a photo review, go to your Pet-home.

How do I find a service?
From the Petzit homepage click on the Pet Services tab in the menu bar. You can search for a service in 3 steps. First, select the type of service. Second, select how you want to sort your search (rating, distance, most viewed, most recommended, name). Third, enter your zip code. Then click submit. Based on your criteria, you will find a listing of the service you are searching.

How do I communicate with other people on the site?
Once you become a registered member of Petzit, you can communicate with other members. Some ways you can communicate is by adding friends, private messaging, participating in news discussions, commenting on reviews, answering questions and journal reading.

How do I meet other pet lovers on the site?
To meet other pet lovers, you first need to sign in to your account. Select the Pets & People link at the top tool bar. From there you can select the People Matching button and find local pet lovers that have your same interest.

When you visit a page about a pet service that you have personally used, you can select Write a Review and follow the instructions to post your review. It is important to be honest and detailed in your review, as those that provide this type of information would be of most help to other Petzit members.

How do I find friends? 
To find friends select the Pets and People tab. Select your search: Browse People, People Matching, or Pet Browser. Once you select your search, you’ll be able to browse the Petzit community.

How can I add Events?
To add a new event, sign in to your account, go to the menu bar and select Events and click the Add Event, which is on the right hand side and follow the instructions to add detail information about your event.

What are Pet Wars?
The search is on for India’s Cutest Pet. Pet Wars is the first cuteness contest for ALL pets in India. Vote for the cutest pet by clicking on the image or the this pet is cuter button. You can vote on all the pets or choose a type of pet by the labels above the pictures.

Why should I rate and review products?
Rating and reviewing products is a way of sharing your knowledge and experience with other pet owners. This way, we can keep each other from making the same mistake with a service or product. On the other hand, if you highly recommend a product or service, then Petzit is where you can tell everyone about it.

How do I Volunteer?
Once you are a member, click on the Volunteer link at the top of the page, or Click here to go to the Volunteer section. Once there, you begin to identify your skills. If your shelter has identified what they need, Petzit will bring both of you together.

How do I confirm my registration?
After you fill out our registration form and click on submit, our system will automatically send you an email. Log in to the e-mail account you used to sign up and open the e-mail that Petzit sent you (be sure to check your bulk or spam folder). Just follow the simple instructions in the email to complete your membership.

How do I register on Petzit?

How do I change my profile information?
To edit your personal information on Petzit.com you must be logged in and click on the My Profile tab in the navigation. From your My Profile page you can edit the information that makes up your profile.

How do I share information with other Petziters?
Whenever you review a product or service, comment on a news article or video, or add a comment to a discussion, other Petziters can see your opinions.

What happens to my personal information?
Petzit will never share your personal information with anyone without your permission.

How does Petzit match me with a shelter?
Shelters in your area provide us with information regarding the skill they are looking for in a volunteer. And pet owners are able identify the skills they have to share. Petzit.com does the rest and puts you in contact with shelters in your area.

What are the guidelines for uploading photos of my products?
Your JPEG photos of products should be no larger than 4mb. The pixel size should be as large as possible, while staying within the filesize. 1024x768 is a convenient size, good quality but fast upload. Web standard 72 dpi.

What is the maximum file size of a video to upload?
When uploading a video to your company page, please be sure the file is not larger than 100mb.

What is Petzit for business?
Petzit offers pet manufacturers and services to list their information on Petzit.com. Products and Services on our site are reviewed and rated by the Petzit community.

Why should I participate in Petzit for business?
By featuring your product or service on Petzit, you can build awareness and gain exposure. You are also able to customize your page on Petzit with your company logo,photos and videos.

How can I list my business on Petzit? 
To add your business on Petzit.com, click on "Add a Product" or "Add a Service." Once either of them are added, they will be submitted to us for approval. Please allow up to 2 business days. Search for the product or service and then click on Ownership. After you are granted ownership you will have a free webpage on Petzit.com to promote your business. How do I claim ownership of my business service listed on Petzit?
To claim ownership of your business service listing, first find your listing. On that page, select "Are you the Owner" button. A representative will contact you to confirm and approve your ownership.

Who do I contact to set up a video review?
Manufacturers interested in doing a video review to demonstrate their product should contact Renee Lane at to set up an appointment to make a video review.

What is the Sampling program with Petzit?
The sampling program lets you test market products with pet owners on Petzit. Pet owners will review your product. Go to the virtual basket and select a sample.

What about fulfillment?
You are responsible for fulfillment. Once you create your company page on Petzit.com and create your samples, you will have all the tools you need to fulfill sample request orders.

My Petzit Points: can they go down?
Sometimes items on Petzit are removed either by the user who posted it or by Petzit administrators. If that removed item originally had points awarded, then to be fair those points would also be removed.

How do I add a Journal? 
To write your own journal, you need to be registered with Petzit first. Then, go to the Journals main page and click on the "Post a journal entry" button.
You can also add an entry from MyPetzit (control panel) and click on "My Thoughts". Click on the "Post an Entry" to write a new journal.

What are Journals?
Petzit Journals are personal accounts of experiences with pets, pet products, or anything relating to pets. You can read or write a journal just by clicking on it.

How do I find Journals?
From the homepage there is a Journal tab, Click on that button and it will bring you to Petzit Journals.

How do I read others’ Journals?
On the Petzit Journal page there is a box labeled View Latest Entries. There you can search by theme, most popular, or most active writers.

How do I add friends to My Petzit?
When you find a friend you’d like to add, click Add to Friends. We will send them an invitation to accept your friend request. After the invitation is accepted, they will automatically be added to your friends page on My Petzit.

How can I opt in and out of emails?
To opt in and out of notifications, click on the My Petzit tab on the homepage. Then click on the Account & Privacy button. Click on the Notifications tab. Click on the type of emails (notifications) you’d like to receive from us. If you wish to not receive emails from us, be sure you select the off button for each type of notification.
